ABOUT US

Altamark is a South African manufacturer of seamless knitted garments such as underwear, activewear and fashion garments. We use state-of-the-art machinery to knit yarn into the desired garment. Our full time designer will strive to develop your samples. Our specialised sampling laboratory and in-house dyeing and boarding facility allows us to cost effectively develop and dye samples and bulk production.

Shapewear – bodysuit, cami, leg shaper, corset, unitard.
Activewear – leggings, cycle shorts, t-shirts, sports bras, crop & tanks tops.

CONCEPT TO COLLECTION

At Altamark, we partner with established retailers as well as entrepreneurs who are developing premium activewear brands. Our process is designed to support larger retail programs and smaller, high-end collections — taking each concept from idea to finished, retail-ready product, all under one roof.

Design Collaboration

Every seamless garment begins with a design idea. You can share sketches, references, or visual concepts — our in-house design team then refines them into detailed digital programs for our Italian knitting machines. Because seamless technology requires technical mapping on specialised software, this stage is both creative and collaborative. We help translate your vision into a structure the machines can understand and knit perfectly.

Sampling and Prototyping

Before production, we create prototype samples for testing fit, texture, compression, and overall feel. Adjustments are made until the garment meets your standard. The sampling process can take time, as each new style requires precise setup, programming, and refinement before knitting begins. Complex designs with many different knit structures usually require more sampling than basic ribbed knit designs.

Yarn and Materials

We use performance blends of Nylon and Spandex, selected for their softness, stretch, and strength. All garments are dyed in-house for unique brand colourways.

Seamless Knitting

Your garment is knitted directly from yarn. This allows us to combine different textures — rib, mesh, and compression — into one garment, creating both technical performance and visual detail. The garment can have strategic ventilation, compression and lifting zones.

Dyeing and Finishing

After knitting, garments go through dyeing, washing, and heat-setting at our facility. This ensures stable sizing, even colour, and the premium hand-feel.

Branding and Packaging

We handle logos, labels, and packaging in-house, allowing your brand to receive a ready-to-sell product that aligns with your visual identity and packaging requirements. Your wash care and brand logo can be heat pressed, sewn with woven labels or knitted into the garment structure.

Production Economics

Our minimum order quantities (MOQs) depend on garment type and complexity:
– More complex garments carry a higher cost and lower MOQ.
– Simpler garments carry a lower cost and higher MOQ.

Complex garments are defined by multiple knit structures such as ventilation or compression zones, intricate design patterns, the use of more than one colour, and additional finishing processes.
